Update to Patient Name Fields
We've changed how we save patient names!
Previously, users would put in the patient name in one field. This would prove problematic whenever we would take that name and push data to your EMR. We would have to parse the name you put in to try and determine what the first, middle, and last names were. This meant that, sometimes, we wouldn't be able to find a matching chart even though the name was correct since we may not have parsed it correctly. To solve this, we now ask users to input separate first, middle, and last names when editing documents. This means we no longer have to try and guess pieces of the patient's name, and will ensure a better matching success rate to patients in your EMR.
However, this could mean there are some discrepancies. You may see a different patient name show up when you try to send to chart or create chart for a document you've received before this update. If that's the case, we'll display a warning to alert you so you can correct any potential issues that come up before you send the document to a chart. Any new record received after this update should not have this problem.
